About ShieldMesh

Physical protection engineering as part of an integrated system

ShieldMesh is an engineering services company specialising in the study, design, procurement, installation and maintenance of physical protection systems using nets and protective structures.

Specialisation

What we do

We focus on the physical protection layer: nets, cables and protective structures designed around or above critical assets, keeping a safety distance between the stopping point and the protected asset.

We integrate this layer with sensors, monitoring and alarms as each project requires, and treat every facility as a distinct engineering case that needs its own study.

ShieldMesh does not own raw-material factories or offer certified off-the-shelf products; our work is study, design, solution selection and coordination with suppliers and partners.

How we work

Four pillars of our approach

01

Working with suppliers and partners

We select suitable suppliers and partners for each project based on specifications and local requirements, and follow up on procurement and conformity.

02

Site needs study

We start by understanding the site, its assets and operational constraints, then define the protection scope and priorities before proposing any solution.

03

Integrated protection

Physical protection is one layer within a system that includes detection, alarms, response and firefighting; solutions are designed not to obstruct existing safety systems.

04

Phased expansion

On large sites we start with the assets whose loss would stop operations, then extend coverage in phases according to priority and budget.

Engineering principles

Principles applied to every concept

Safety distance

Designs keep a gap between the stopping point and the protected asset.

Layered defence

The physical layer complements detection, alarms and firefighting; it does not replace them.

Passive first

Fixed systems are preferred where possible; active layers are studied where permanent coverage is not enough.

Priority-based protection

The most important assets are protected first, then coverage grows in phases.

Materials

Materials considered per project

■  High-strength fibres such as UHMWPE for nets

■  Aramid fibres for layers near heat sources

■  Non-metallic composite cables

■  GFRP composites and galvanised steel for structures

■  Fibre optics for distributed sensing

References

References considered in design

■  Hazardous-area requirements such as ATEX / IECEx

■  Firefighting requirements such as NFPA 11, NFPA 15 and local civil defence

■  Local load and wind codes or ASCE 7 / EN 1991

■  Lightning protection and earthing such as IEC 62305

■  Civil aviation requirements where heights or airborne systems apply

The references actually applied are set per project with the relevant authorities; listing them here does not imply approval or certification.

Discuss your facility's needs with ShieldMesh

Start with a general description of your need, and we will propose a path for studying the site and identifying suitable solutions. Please do not send drawings or sensitive security details through the public form.
