Overview

The concept

A pre-tensioned cable-net canopy covering the roof and upper walls of a fuel tank, supported by external masts and a steel compression ring, without adding load to the tank itself. The concept keeps a clear gap between the net and the tank roof.

Proposed purpose

To study a passive physical layer that separates a tank from objects approaching from above or at an angle, as part of an integrated protection system.
